“The BCCI has announced major changes to the upcoming cricket matches. If you are looking why RCB lost the IPL 2026 final venue including the new venue for the final, we have all the details right here.”

RELOCATION
Conventionally, the defending champions get to host the final on their home turf. Because the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are the reigning champions, Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium was the designated venue for the title clash on May 31, 2026. However, the BCCI has officially stripped Bengaluru of the final and relocated the match to the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Bengaluru was also left entirely out of the playoff schedule.
The BCCI’s Official Stance
BCCI honorary secretary Devajit Saikia later clarified that the decision was made because the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) had allegedly demanded complimentary VIP tickets far beyond the standard permitted quota. Several reports pointed to significant political pressure and local MLA ticket demands creating operational complications for the board. This was BCCI’s explanation for why RCB lost the IPL 2026 final venue.
The Local Reaction & Backlash
The KSCA: The association expressed deep disappointment KSCA President Venkatesh Prasad argued that the five league matches successfully hosted in Bengaluru this season proved their operational efficiency and crowd management capabilities.
The State Government: Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara denied the MLA tickets demand, He insisted that the matches hosted in Bengaluru were flawless in terms of security and management, suggesting that the BCCI’s real motive for shifting the final to Ahmedabad was purely economic, given its higher commercial appeal and vast seating capacity.
